Nawanont Pathomsiri, or Richard, is a Thai Director, Cinematographer, and Photographer born in Bangkok, Thailand and raised in the United States.

Richard’s first interests were animals, specifically fish and reptiles. He used to always carry around a copy of Snakes and Other Reptiles of Thailand and South-East Asia, checked-out from the University of Maryland, College Park library. His love for animals then led him to the ever-growing internet at a very young age, specifically the brand new website YouTube. While also watching educational documentaries and videos, he eventually found inspiration to become a filmmaker from various YouTubers such as Freddie Wong, Brandon Laatsch, Corridor Digital, nigahiga, and Wong Fu Productions. Though not conventional, Richard found a lot of inspiration from ordinary people working with a fraction of Hollywood budgets. This led to his choice to pursue filmmaking as a career.

Richard’s filmmaking inspirations are Alfonso Cuarón, Bong Joon Ho, Christopher Nolan, Daren Aronofsky, Charlie Kaufman, and Robert Eggers, to name a few.

Richard is also an avid photographer, specifically in the medium of black and white infrared film. He dabbles in amateur poetry. If you ever meet him in person, ask him to recite his favorite poem to you.

Richard has lived in Maryland, South Carolina, North Dakota, California, and Idaho. He currently resides in Moscow, Idaho, working for the University of Idaho’s athletic department as Director of Creative Content.
